Supporting Expecting Mothers
A Doula is a trained professional who provides continuous physical, emotional and informational support to a mother before, during and shortly after childbirth to help her achieve the healthiest, most satisfying experience possible.
We offer Doula services to expecting mothers, both during and post pregnancy. We provide knowledge and information about various birthing options. Along with guidance and discussions to help you determine your goals and preferences for your birth experience, we work with expecting mothers to put together a birth plan. This includes what aromatherapy would mother desire during labor, who is going to cut umbilical cord, medications acceptable, etc.
Through Birth Comadres
During the months leading up to birth, your Doula will be available to provide emotional and physical support to the mother and her family. You, and your family, will be able to call, text, or email your Doula at any time to answer questions or discuss concerns you may have. Mothers can also schedule prenatal bodywork with their Doula as needed. This has been shown to be fairly beneficial to the the baby as well. Research has also shown that the presence of a Doula can help decrease the chance of having to get a cesarean section.
In the last month of your pregnancy, your Doula will be on call and ready to assist with your birth. Once you begin labor, your Doula will meet you at your home, birthing center, or hospital. Your Doula will aid in enhancing your comfort with massage therapy and provide encouragement through the journey of labor. A Doulas goal is to help you and your family have the birth experience you desire and ensure that the staff, midwife, and / or doctors are aware of and adhere to your birth plan and preferences.
